The Prime Minister Claimed the victory over Corona Virus Disease and showcased India as the saviour of the world. The active COVID infected people counts skyrocketed in India by the end of February 2021 and yet growing four times the peak of the first wave, corpses were set aflame over the pavement. High-Courts slammed the government left, right and centre. National and International media flattened the popularity curve of the Prime Minister.

The question is, “will this be the beginning of the end for Modi?”

When the first Lockdown was announced on 24th March 2020, the total number of people actively infected was 561. Lockdown extended for months with relaxations over time slowly. People infected and Death tolls were at the peak during September 2020, and gradually the situation came under control, the whole world was looking up to India, despite the high population the ability to manage the crisis was such impressive.

India was mass-producing vaccines and exporting to countries, and The Honorable Prime Minister claimed the victory by looking at sheer numbers but not the pattern emerging across the world. The new variant was discovered in the UK, yet Air was open, despite the hard lessons, which had not been learnt.

With a year of the country shutdown, Completely to partially the informal sectors affected very high, the economy machine was frozen. 5 state Assembly elections nearing in April the lockdown have not been imposed.

The so claimed victory of the First wave is due to the active implementation of Lockdown by states. whereas, for the second wave, the lockdown could not be as effective as the first for a simple reason, 1 in 4000 people (3,86,000) were being actively affected by the virus per day, considering that the figure counts only people had enough money to take a test have been recorded as COVID positive, the actual figures would have been 10 times higher at least.

The concept behind the lockdown is to flatten the normal distribution curve over a period of time rather than a steep curve so that the peak of the curve remains less than the count of medical facilities available at any point in time. Even lockdown could not help people suffering from the disease, as the situation has crossed beyond the elastic point. When His majesty PM and His Excellency Home Minister were campaigning in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, people are dying in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra, etc.

During the first wave, the situation had a fear of the unknown, there was no medicine, the situation had to be handled by the health ministry. Whereas, the second has vaccines (Medicines) to control the situation, (as believed normally). Modi claiming the Victory on one hand and vaccines not being supplied adequately on other hand, with the gravity of an unknown number of death tolls, Modi, stuck his neck.

Health being State subject and Medicine being Central Subject, the first wave, states have done their part better by keeping the active count below the level of permissible level of Health Infrastructure available, whereas second wave medicine was the key, and Government should have strengthened the health infrastructure during the Lockdown. In other words, Lockdown is the time bought to strengthen the health infrastructure and develop medicine.

Will this influence the 2024 election, would that be a question? The actual figure of People dead could have not been properly provided, but the figures are mere numbers to people whose near and dears are burnt to ashes, even one.
